Kirchnerism has begun an internal analysis regarding the direction of leadership within the party in the province of Buenos Aires. Governor Axel Kicillof is consolidating his political power through alliances with both mayors and legislators, including radical figures. Among these agreements stands out a recent public talk with Federico Storani in La Plata.
Amid this tension, the governor is preparing an event at the UPCN camping site in La Plata for May 24, where he will officially present his political space "Movimiento Derecho al Futuro" (MDF). On the other hand, there has been a resurgence of the slogan "Cristina 2025" promoted by La Cámpora during an event in Quilmes led by Máximo Kirchner.
In this context, Andrés ‘Cuervo’ Larroque, minister of provincial development, generated controversy by stating in public declarations: "We are not discussing Cristina, we are discussing Máximo's little gang." This statement reaffirms the internal tension within Buenos Aires Peronism.
Governor Kicillof and radical leader Storani recently coincided in their criticism of the IMF, their support for Pope Francis's legacy, and the search for alternatives with a strong social content. Meanwhile, La Cámpora is pushing for the candidacy of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, while Kicillof expands his territorial support base.
At the legislative level, it is expected that the Legislature will discuss a project that will waive a debt of $7.9 billion to municipalities for funds allocated during the pandemic, backed by the ruling party and radical sectors. This measure has been celebrated by Mayor Leonardo Nardini as a gesture in favor of the people of Buenos Aires. Kicillof's strategy, which includes the suspension of provincial PASO elections and electoral splitting, seems to aim at his consolidation in the province. The recent photo with Storani has raised concerns among sectors aligned with La Cámpora.
